SUBJECT:

Authorize the Supervise and Clerk to enter into an Agreement with Reliance Building (Novi, MI), low bidder, for District 3 Booster Station Rehabilitation for a cost not to exceed $290,000 including contingency, subject to Township Attorney approval

BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:

Authorize the Supervise and Clerk to enter into an Agreement with Reliance Building (Novi, MI), low bidder, for District 3 Booster Station Rehabilitation for a cost not to exceed $290,000 including contingency, subject to Township Attorney approval.

BACKGROUND:

Originally constructed in 1994, the majority of the District 3 Booster Station remains in it's original state. Phase 1 of the District 3 Booster Station Rehabilitation was originally bid in November of 2019. The bid was value engineered to meet the costs we deemed acceptable for the scope of work.

Due to the majority of the station's exterior still in original condition and nearing 30 years of service, the building is in need of rehabilitation. The roof, siding, and windows will all be replaced. Additional site work is required to reduce stormwater from collecting near the building's foundation. Exterior work is necessary to protect the buildings integrity as well as increase the general aesthetic to meet surrounding neighbors.

Also included in this project is the replacement of the shingles over the office area of the Utilities Field Office (4467 Concourse Drive). The Field Office was built in 1999. The original singles have began to weather, causing minor water intrusion into the building. It is necessary to replace these shingles at this time to ensure the build does not see further water damage to the interior, causing costly repairs.
