| Patricia Denig, Director of Human Resources
| DATE:

| SUBJECT:
| Authorize the approval of the MERS Resolution Establishing Uniform Transfer Provision
|
|
| | | | | | | | BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Authorize the approval of the MERS Resolution Establishing Uniform Transfer Provision. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND:
In 2015 the Township, as part of its strategy to reduce long-term legacy costs, modified the pension benefit for all new employees to a Hybrid pension plan. Existing employees remained in the Defined Benefit pension plan and the Defined Benefit pension plans were closed to new full-time hires. However, there are periodic instances when existing employees that were hired prior to the pension benefit change are transferred or promoted into positions within the organization that have a different employee category (i.e., union to non-union, or one union to another). These transfers and/or promotions require a modification on the MERS side to move the employee into the respective employee category pension plan benefit within MERS. In order to complete these transfers, MERS requires that the Township adopt the attached MERS Employer Resolution Establishing Uniform Transfer Provision. |
