SUBJECT:

Authorize the Supervisor and Clerk to enter into an Agreement with Stantec Consulting Michigan Inc., for design and construction engineering services related to the Packard Road Water Main Replacement Project, for an amount not to exceed $110,000 subject to Township Attorney approval


BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Authorize the Supervisor and Clerk to enter into an Agreement with Stantec Consulting Michigan Inc., for design and construction engineering services related to the Packard Road Water Main Replacement Project, for an amount not to exceed $110,000 subject to Township Attorney approval
BACKGROUND:
This project consists of the installation of approximately 700 feet of 12-inch  and 200 feet of 8-inch water main by open cut, rehabilitation of approximately 180 feet of 12-inch water main by cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining, replacement of associated valves and service laterals, and other associated improvements. Construction is currently anticipated to start in July of 2022. The intent of these services is to assist the Township in confirming compliance with the contract documents and coordination with the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) repaving of Packard Road Construction engineering service's provide for the necessary contractor oversight of the project; ensuring proper installation of specified equipment, inspection services, contract administration, construction staking, and as-built plans.

IMPACT ON TOWNSHIP'S BUDGET:
Funded through Utilities Fund 592-970, Capital Expense

IMPACT ON INDIRECT COST:
Project will remove unexpected cost associated with the catastrophic failures on the water main and repairs to the road surfaces

IMPACT ON OTHER TOWNSHIP DEPARTMENTS OR OUTSIDE AGENCIES:
Project will be constructed and coordinated with the Washtenaw County Road Commissions Packard Road Resurfacing Project


CONFORMITY TO TOWNSHIP POLICIES:
Conforms to township policy, as well as Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) for Infrastructure Management
