| | | | | | | | BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Authorize the Supervisor and Clerk to enter into an Agreement between the Helen McCalla Trust and Pittsfield Charter Township to accept a $13,575 grant for the installation of a 543 square foot Paved Patio area at the Community/Senior Center, subject to Township Attorney approval |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND:
As in years past, Pittsfield Charter Township was invited to submit a proposal for the McCalla Trust grant.
Given the experiences through the pandemic and the fact that Pittsfield seniors had identified, through the last master planning update process, a need for an outdoor gathering space, The Township submitted for the installation of a vibrant outdoor patio area at the Pittsfield Township Community/ Senior Center located at 701 W. Ellsworth Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48108.
Outdoor areas in the fresh air, while important before the pandemic, have become an even more critical part of allowing seniors to mingle, interact, and find their 'home away from home' at the Pittsfield Township Senior Center. This project will deliver an outdoor space, nestled in the midst of greenspace and a vegetable garden, for seniors to gather. A 31' x 17' (approximately 543 sq. ft) grass area currently exists adjacent to an exterior wall of the building. The project’s intent is to install a paved patio area furnished with umbrellas, tables, and chairs, and surrounded by raised bed herb The design is accessible and comply with all Michigan barrier-¬free rules.
The attached agreement must be approved for the disbursement to take place. The Trust intends to make this distribution before December 31, 2021. |
