Adopt a Resolution Revoking the Industrial Facilities Exemption Certificate for SF Motors, Inc., Resolution #21-31

BACKGROUND:

On February 22, 2017, the Board of Trustees approved SF Motors, Inc. 5220 S. State Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48108 for an Industrial Facilities Exemption Certificate in the amount of $6,976,600 for real property and $1,000,000 for personal property for ten (10) years. The Township discovered in May 2021 that SF Motors, Inc. has ceased operations in Pittsfield, thereby failing to comply with the terms of the agreement with the Township for an Industrial Facilities Exemption Certificate. The Clerk’s Office attempted to obtain verification from SF Motors via email on May 20, 2021 and by certified mail on June 1, 2021 with no response. We are requesting that certificate #2017-057 be revoked by the State Tax Commission per MCL 207.565(2), because SF Motors, Inc. at 5220 S. State Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48108, has failed to proceed in good faith with the operation of the facility with respect to real and personal property.

IMPACT ON TOWNSHIP'S HUMAN RESOURCES:

No impact.



IMPACT ON TOWNSHIP'S BUDGET:

The revocation of the certificate would be effective on December 31st of the year in which the State Tax Commission revokes the certificate.



IMPACT ON INDIRECT COST:

No impact.



IMPACT ON OTHER TOWNSHIP DEPARTMENTS OR OUTSIDE AGENCIES:

Assessing Department and Treasurer’s Office will complete additional items regarding assessments and tax roll.
