THROUGH:

FROM:
Philip Biscorner, Director of Parks and Recreation

DATE:

December 9, 2020

SUBJECT:

Authorize the Supervisor and Clerk to sign a Grant Agreement with the Helen McCalla Trust for the purchase of flooring, paint, and other items for the rehab of the activity room in the Community/Senior Center, for a cost not to exceed $15,516.76, subject to Township Attorney approval

BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:

Authorize the Supervisor and Clerk to sign a Grant Agreement with the Helen McCalla Trust for the purchase of flooring, paint, and other items for the rehab of the activity room in the Community/Senior Center, for a cost not to exceed $15,516.76, subject to Township Attorney approval.

BACKGROUND:

Pittsfield Charter Township was invited to submit a proposal for the expenditure of funds that will directly benefit elderly persons or those with special needs. These expenditures could include enhancements to buildings and/or grounds, purchase or replacement of equipment or software that supports the organization's programs, increases to energy efficiency, enhancements to our capacity to administer or manage the organization's programs, or other similar purposes.

Upon review of the existing needs, an immediate need was identified at Pittsfield Township's Community/Senior Center to improve accessibility and fitness opportunities for community members.  The existing activity room has served our community very well, but flooring, paint, and other items will improve the physical space and provide a more welcoming environment that will allow us to offer new and additional fitness classes.
