| | | | | | | | BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Authorize the Supervisor and Clerk to enter into an Agreement with Granite Liner to provide emergency lining services on the existing 16-inch water main located on State Road between Morgan and Ellsworth Roads, for a cost not to exceed $758,500 including contingency, subject to Township Attorney approval. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND:
On Monday October 26, 2020 the Utilities Department was made aware of a possible water main break on State Road, south of the airport. Once confirmed, the main was stabilized and the repair completed the next day. Upon re-energizing the main broke a second time. Again, we stabilized the main and made the repairs. Two hours after completing the repair, the main broke for the third time. At this time, the main has been shut down and taken out of service until lining can be performed.
Investigation has been performed as to the reason why the main ruptured the way it did. We have determined that system pressure spikes, which typically cause this type of break did not occur. Therefore, samples of the soil at surface level and at the main have been taken. These sample are being examined to determine the possible presence of contaminants which can cause premature deterioration. |
