BACKGROUND:
The Police Department received approval at the August 14, 2019 Board of Trustees meeting to purchase one (1) Chevrolet Tahoe to be used by command officers for multi-purpose use, including carrying additional equipment for critical incidents, such as as the Ann Arbor Welding Supply fire and explosion joint police and fire response.
The cost to outfit and setup the command vehicle was unknown at the time of the initial purchase request because the determination of vehicle equipment was on-going, as well as Cruisers, Inc. expressed interest in providing a purchase credit for the trade-in value of two police department 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe's that were being rotated out of service.
Delivery of the new police command Tahoe was finally achieved in March, 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the outfitting and setup of the command vehicle by Cruiser's was also delayed.
Vehicle Outfitting and Setup:
Cruisers, Inc. expressed interest in purchasing two (2) used 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe's that were taken out of service and replaced with 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe's. Cruisers purchase of these two 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe's are credited to the final build cost, as listed below.
Police command vehicle total outfit/setup cost - $20,754
2013 Chevrolet Tahoe trade-in value applied - $10,854.46
Remaining balance for the police command vehicle outfit/setup - $9,899.54
