BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:

Authorize the Supervisor and Clerk to enter into an amended Agreement for Sub-Award of Federal Financial Assistance between Washtenaw County and Pittsfield Charter Township dated September 26, 2019 to end on December 31, 2020, with an option to extend for an additional 6 months, subject to Township Attorney approval.

BACKGROUND:

In November 2019, the Pittsfield Township Board of Trustees authorized the Supervisor and Clerk to enter into an agreement with J. Ranck Electric, Inc. for the construction of the Packard and Hawks Mid-Block Crossing for a cost not to exceed $170,000.00.

The projected construction timeline was targeted for fall of 2019 with a completion date of spring of 2020. This project was significantly delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the beginning of the pandemic construction was halted, and when they were able to resume work they were faced with production and shipping delays of the necessary parts and equipment to complete the job.

At this point the project is nearing completion but additional time is required to complete the project.  Washtenaw County has reached out with the desire to amend the contract with Pittsfield Township for the Packard Mid-block crossing project to extend the deadline for completion to December 31, 2020, with an option to extend for an additional 6 months. All other terms and conditions remain the same as the original contract.
