WHEREAS, Pittsfield Charter Township has been engaged in setting the gold standard for public service since 2009; and
WHEREAS, Delivering on this motto has helped us create a strong ethic of team work amongst Pittsfield Township staff while also establishing a sense of community in Pittsfield Township, rooted in respect for and inclusivity of all, which has placed us as the 8th most diverse suburb in the State of Michigan; and
WHEREAS, One of the most significant contributors to our ability to establish a sense of community has to do with the fact that we have committed ourselves to continually not just listening to the needs and priorities of our residents and businesses but responding to the same through, among other things, program prioritization and program/service delivery; and
WHEREAS, As part of continually improving on our program/service delivery, we have undertaken, on average, about one (1) reorganization per year, since 2009, within and between the seven (7) Departments reporting to the Supervisor; and
WHEREAS, To that end, this year, the proposed reorganization has the dual intent of, as before, further improving program/service delivery while also responding to the fiscal constraints that have and will continue, into the next few years, be imposed on the General Fund as a consequence of the COVID-19 Pandemic; and
WHEREAS, To support these dual goals of continued service delivery improvement within a fiscally responsible framework, changes within the Departments of Parks & Recreation, Utilities & Municipal Services, and Human Resources are being recommended (see attached);
