SUBJECT:

Authorize payment to Cadillac Paving for emergency road restoration efforts to Platt Road, State Road, and Lohr Road as a result of three (3) water main breaks, for a cost not to exceed $22,830


BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:

Authorize payment to Cadillac Paving for emergency road restoration efforts to Platt Road, State Road, and Lohr Road as a result of three (3) water main breaks, for a cost not to exceed $22,830.

BACKGROUND:

In a five (5) week period, the Utilities Department had three (3) emergency water main repairs that required excavation of the road to make the necessary repairs.  Rapid restoration of the asphalt was required to re-open the roadways was required by the Washtenaw County Road Commission.

 

July 7, 2020, the Utilities Department  performed an emergency repair to water main located under the the northbound lane of Platt Road, South of Michigan Ave. As a result of the break, the pavement needed to be removed and replaced upon completion of the repair to the water main.

 

July 20,2020 the Utilities Department  performed an emergency repair to water main located under the the southbound lane of State Road, North of Morgan Road. As a result of the break, the pavement needed to be removed and replaced upon completion of the repair to the water main.

 

August 14, 2020  the Utilities Department  performed an emergency repair to water main located under the the northbound lane of Lohr Road, South of Ellsworth Ave. As a result of the break, the pavement needed to be removed and replaced upon completion of the repair to the water main.
